Our post yesterday on the proposed language for the term limits ballot measure resulted in stories being printed in The Tulsa World and the Daily Oklahoman today. Both point out that the wording is preliminary and that there’s a comment period that ends on May 12th.
We suggest that anyone who believes as we do that the sentence “It limits the ability of voters to re-elect statewide elected officers” is misleading and needs to be removed should contact the Attorney General’s office.
Let them know how you feel about term limits and the proposed language. Tell them that the sentence needs to be taken out.
A ballot measure needs to be clear and free of bias. Luckily, the state constitution provides this 10-day period to look at and comment upon a ballot measure’s language. Let’s take advantage of that period and make sure that proper wording goes on the ballot in 2010. Because the last thing we want is for the Attorney General’s political bias on the ballot where it could possibly influence a voter.
